Gym Chic: Sweat in Style

As a self-proclaimed fitness fanatic & fashionista, it would only make sense that I sport the latest, greatest, and most functional gym-wear.

Nike "Tech" Running Capris $58.00

For many a cotton college tee and two-tone Nike running shorts do the trick. I myself have quite a few "go to" gym items. For example, these Nike running capris, not too hot, not to cold, and not too revealing.

I also love these yoga pants by Nike or these ones by LuluLemon, (a little more spendy, but definitely worth it) perfect for running errands and hopping on the elliptical.

Nike "Legend Slim Fit"
Women's Training Pants $70.00

Lululemon "Astro" Pant $98.00

Dri-fit tops made by various athletic clothing companies are also a must have. One style I came across most recently that I find myself buying in bulk are these racer back tops by Lululemon. Although Lululemon tends to be on spendier side of athletic apparel, these tops are worth every penny. The fit is perfect, they don't ride up, and are not too tight. The color selection doesn't hurt either!

LuluLemon "Cool Racerback" $42.00

I am also huge fan of athletic jackets and hoodies. As of late, I have found that my collection is growing. (Especially with the chilly temperatures in Spokane, Wash.!) Whether heading to class, the airport, or the grocery store, a dri-fit hoodie is functional and cute. My most recent purchase is this "In Stride" Jacket by LuluLemon. Amazing fit, darling colors. (I went with the heathered ultra violet)
Lululemon "In Stride" Jacket $108.00
Sporting your athletic clothes outside the gym doesn't have to be a fashion faux-pas! It is easy to find great work-out apparel that will take you much further than the women's locker room.

Internship Attire: Get Noticed

Internships are in, and expecting one to fall into your lap is so out. A perfected resume, a flawless application, and a killer interview are key to your success, but so is a fabulous wardrobe. (and you don't have to break the bank to get one!)

STEP 1: When networking in a sea of black, stand out with a bright and professional statement piece. For example, this mustard yellow peacoat from Anthropologie. I paired it with a Pyrus London vintage looking business casual silk dress, black Frye Melissa Button Boots, and a black Coach bag.

Luisa Cropped Peacoat
(no longer available on Anthropologie.com)

Frye "Melissa Button" $327.95

Me Too "Patty" $88.95

STEP TWO: Give them something to talk about. An interview can make or break your chances, no matter how much experience you have acquired or how many recommendations you might have. Do not let an inappropriate outfit become the office party's topic of conversation. Go simple but trendy. Remember heels do not mean you're a shoe-in! Especially if you don't know how to walk in them. Fashionable flats say "I'm professional and practical". Try these crazy comfortable flats by Me Too.  I went with the nude color. Pair with skinny slacks, like the Michael by Michael Kors Straight Leg Ponte Knit Pant ($74.50), a crisp white blouse, and an eye-catching blazer. I wore this brown, cropped-length Cartonnier jacket which can be found at Anthropologie.

Cartonnier "Tweed Brigade Jacket" $138

STEP THREE: Continue making a statement in the office. Okay, you've landed the internship, you can relax. But that doesn't mean your inner fashionista can take a break too! You should dress everyday as if it is your first day, or as if you are going to meet the CEO of Dream Job, Inc. Avoid fashion emergencies with a few staple items:

A classic grey blazer: I am obsessed with this one by Cartonnier.
Cartonnier "Bound Tome" Blazer $98
Black flats: I wear this pair by Born at least twice a week.
Born "Gemma" Floral Flat $89.95
A simple tank: My roommates and I swear by these silk tanks from Frenchi. (The tank has more length in the back which is always a plus)
Frenchi "Silky Sleeveless" Top $32.00

A pair of casual colored slacks: I have these Hudson's in dark red and navy.
Hudson "Collin" Mid-Rise Skinny $198.00
It isn't difficult to look stylish and polished on the job if you have the right pieces.
