Internships are in, and expecting one to fall into your lap is
so out. A perfected resume, a flawless application, and a killer interview are key to your success, but so is a fabulous wardrobe. (and you don't have to break the bank to get one!)
STEP 1: When networking in a sea of black, stand out with a
bright and professional statement piece. For example, this mustard yellow peacoat from Anthropologie. I paired it with a Pyrus London vintage looking business casual silk dress, black Frye Melissa Button Boots, and a black Coach bag.

STEP TWO: Give them something to talk about. An interview can make or break your chances, no matter how much experience you have acquired or how many recommendations you might have.
Do not let an inappropriate outfit become the office party's topic of conversation. Go simple but trendy. Remember heels do not mean you're a shoe-in! Especially if you don't know how to walk in them. Fashionable flats say "I'm professional and practical". Try these crazy comfortable flats by Me Too. I went with the nude color. Pair with skinny slacks, like the Michael by Michael Kors Straight Leg Ponte Knit Pant ($74.50), a crisp white blouse, and an eye-catching blazer. STEP THREE: Continue making a statement in the office. Okay, you've landed the internship, you can relax. But that doesn't mean your inner fashionista can take a break too!
You should dress everyday as if it is your first day, or as if you are going to meet the CEO of Dream Job, Inc. Avoid fashion emergencies with a few staple items:
